FAQs

1. Do I need reservations?

The Bluebird Café is a very popular destination for visitors to Nashville and music lovers everywhere.  While we encourage reservations, our early shows always have pew seating and bar seats (28 seats) that are not reserved; first-come, first-served.  If these shows are “sold out,” you still have the chance to be seated at one of these seats.  All seats (tables, bar and pews) are reserved for the late shows but most nights we have seats that open up at the last minute so it is always worth coming down and standing in line to see if something becomes available.

2. How do I make reservations?

To make reservations to attend a Bluebird Café show, please visit our website:  www.bluebirdcafe.com. There you can select the show you would like to see and the specific table/bar seat/pew seat that you want to see it from. Reservations become available one week in advance (Tuesday for Tuesday, Wednesday for Wednesday, etc) and the Monday before for Friday and Saturday shows.

3.  Does The Bluebird Café have an age limit?

No. There is no age limit. Anyone is welcome to attend our shows. The more, the merrier! We just remind show attendees that they may not sit at the bar if they are under 21 years of age. Also, as much as we love kids who love music, they must be reminded that The Bluebird Café is  a listening room and a certain level of quiet is expected.

4. Why do you Shhhh people at the Bluebird?

The Bluebird has gained a reputation as a listening room; one where songs are valued and songwriters recognized for their compositions.  Too much conversation distracts listeners and is disrespectful to the songwriters who form the backbone of our music community.  Our room is designed to be quiet – even the telephone lights up rather than ringing!  We encourage talking before the show, between sets and after the show but ask that during the performances, to keep talking as low as possible.

5. Is there a cover charge?

Yes and No. Our early shows (6:00PM Tuesday–Thursday and 6:30PM Friday-Saturday) our Sunday night shows and our Monday Open Mic generally have no cover charge. Our late/feature shows (9:00PM Tuesday–Thursday and 9:30PM Friday-Saturday) generally have a cover charge. This cover charge usually ranges from $7.00-$12.00, all of which goes directly to the songwriters performing. ALL of our shows have a $7.00 food and beverage minimum per seat. No exceptions.

6. When do you open?

We open at 5:30pm, Monday-Sunday.  We do not open for lunch.

8. Where do I park?

There is parking available directly in front of The Bluebird Café. After 6PM, when our neighbors in the Bradford Furniture building are closed, they are kind enough to let our customers use their lot next door.  Our goal is to be good neighbors so we ask you to please not utilize our neighbors’ parking lots unless their business is closed. They enforce towing – as does the AT&T Store on our other side.

12. Is The Bluebird Cafe wheel chair accessible?

The Bluebird Café is a small venue, defined in many ways by its intimacy and its size.  We have table seating for approximately 70 people with about a half dozen seats that will accommodate a wheel chair or a visitor using some form of assistance; walker, cane, etc.  Our restrooms are also small but serviceable, however the aisle to them can be tight.  The Bluebird takes reservations and the best recommendation is for anyone who has mobility concerns to call our office at 615-383-1461 or email at info@bluebirdcafe.com, so that we can reserve appropriate seats and ensure that aisles are kept as clear as possible.  Advance notice is always recommended – the earlier the better so we can assure our guests a wonderful experience at The Bluebird Café.
