On Sunday, September 20, 2015, in conjunction with the Americana Festival, renowned photographer David McClister will celebrate the first installation of his work at The Bluebird Cafe. The exhibit – which McClister has titled The Bluebird Cafe Series – will feature images from McClister’s extensive portfolio of both iconic and contemporary Americana artists.
The images McClister selected for the walls of The Bluebird Cafe focus primarily on many of the most well-known and beloved figures in Americana music – past and present. Many of these figures – from Willie Nelson to Jason Isbell – have strong ties with the Nashville music community. Several of the singer/songwriters in McClister’s Bluebird Cafe Series have actually played The Bluebird Cafe at some point in their careers.
“The Bluebird is so proud to host this incredible exhibit. David’s work encapsulates Americana music. A lot of folks say Americana music is hard to define, but David has done it. Just look at the walls of The Bluebird,” said GM Erika Wollam Nichols of The Bluebird Cafe.
On September 20th at 3:30pm during the private opening – in true Bluebird fashion - David McClister will tell the story behind some of his best-known photos . A brief Q&A will follow.
