Artists

Mallory Johnson

Mallory Johnson is a 4x ECMA winner, 4x CCMA nominated artist and 2022 semi-finalist for the prestigious SiriusXM Top of the Country competition.

Stepping into a bold new era of music, Mallory recently released her poignant single “f*ck that” and follow-up summer single “suitcase” — both of which are an introduction to her upcoming sophomore album produced by Andrew Petroff (Sheryl Crow, Meg McRee). This new batch of music has already earned her two 2024 MusicNL nominations (Songwriter and Fans’ Choice Entertainer of the Year) and early editorial playlist support including multiple cross-genre Apple Music playlists as well as Amazon Music’s cover for “Break Through Country.’

This genre-bending artist demonstrates a captivating fusion of dark Americana with her distinctive alternative-country flair, while spilling her raw and honest truth. The new project follows the release of her critically acclaimed 2022 album Surprise Party (produced by Grammy-nominated producer Kent Wells [Dolly Parton]), which solidified her place as a standout voice in Canadian country. Featuring viral track "Married," which garnered over 26 million TikTok views, Surprise Party received praise from the likes of PEOPLE, CMT, The Boot, the Toronto Star, and national television outlets. The album also took home the 2023 ECMA for Country Recording of the Year, while earning Mallory 6 2023 MusicNL nominations (including a win for Country Artist of the Year) and two 2023 CCMA nominations for Alternative Country Album and Innovative Campaign of the Year.

Fresh off of festival season opening up for icons like Shania Twain and Alan Doyle, Mallory is currently back in the studio to complete her sophomore project.

Ryan Larkins

Ryan was born and raised in Nashville where he “caught the bug”—picking up the guitar and starting to write his own songs at age twelve. Ryan frequently performed at church, and there he learned to master the stage. In 2009, Ryan competed in the television singing competition show on CMT, Can You Duet, where he and his singing partner finished in third place. Memorably, the duo stood out when they surprised judges by singing the classic “Tennessee Waltz,” while other groups opted for contemporary selections.

Two years later, Ryan released his original EP, Follow Me, and followed up with an acoustic project in 2013. In the spring of 2017, Ryan competed and won first place in WSM’s Road Show Talent Competition. As he did in the television competition, Ryan performed country classics “That’s the Way Love Goes” by Merle Haggard and “When You Say Nothing At All” by Keith Whitley.

Clearly, Ryan has a solid foundation in traditional country music; however, it is not his only musical influence. He covers songs in the pop, gospel, and R&B genres, as well, and these influences are apparent in his original compositions. The range of songwriters he has worked with over the years also showcase his musical interests across genres and within country music. He has worked with the likes of Jessi Alexander, Country Hall of Fame Member Bill Anderson, Steve Bogard, Scooter Carusoe, Monty Criswell, Tom Douglas, JT Harding, Connie Harrington, Tim Nichols, and Tony Lane.

Gordie Sampson

A brilliant writer, an innovative producer, a dynamic on-stage presence, and a mentor to emerging writers, Gordie’s musical genius and generosity is applauded by audiences and industry players alike.

Raised in the community of Big Pond (pop. 47), near the rugged, edge-of-the-world coastlines of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Sampson’s songwriting has taken him across the globe. But besides the island he hails from, there might be no place in his story more important than Nashville, Tennessee, where he lives now with his family. He moved to Music City in 2005, and in less than a year Carrie Underwood had recorded his own “Jesus, Take The Wheel,” which wound up at number one on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart for six weeks in a row and earned Gordie a Grammy for Best Country Song of the Year. Since then, Sampson’s songs have been cut by a long list of established artists that includes Florida Georgia Line, Luke Bryan, Rascal Flatts, Dan + Shay, Hunter Hayes and Caitlyn Smith and by young up-and-comers like Carly Pearce, Caylee Hammack and Tenille Townes.

It was a winding road to get here. He tore up the stage in high school and afterwards with his early bands, did time playing and producing for fiddlin’ phenom Ashley MacIsaac, toured with The Rankin Family, and was part of Canadian folk music icon Rita MacNeil’s group on her weekly CBC show Rita and Friends. Sampson’s straight-to-the-heart tunes benefit from the weight of his expressive voice on his own records, - his 1999 album Stones garnered a Juno Award nomination for Best Roots & Traditional Album and he has won numerous East Coast Music Awards.   Although he doesn’t often take on outside projects, he has appeared as a producer for records by The East Pointers and Port Cities.

Gordie heads back home to Canada every summer to spend time with family and friends in his beloved Cape Breton and to perform in the Maritimes, where enthusiastic audiences welcome him, year after year.  From 2010-2019 he ran The Gordie Sampson Songcamp, a retreat that gives young songwriters the opportunity to develop their skills and build relationships with their peers, and promotes learning in pursuit of artistic excellence. Numerous Songcampers, including Mo Kenney, the members of roots/pop group Port Cities, Dave Sampson and Kyle Mischiek (Sunsetto)  have gone on to build their own successful musical careers.
