Mark Carson has been writing songs and performing for many years. He has played  venues and fesivals in New Orleans, Nashville, and elsewhere, including the Bluebird Café, Tipitina’s, and the Maple Leaf, as well as the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Frank Brown Songwriting Festival, and the Pardi Gras Festival.  He has written over 1500 songs in many genres.

In addition to getting some songs cut by award-winning and successful New Orleans bands such as Papa Grows Funk, in 2009 Mark got his first Nashville country single, Barn on the Rooftop, that was recorded by Ty Williams.  He has had over 50 songs recorded by artists in Nashville, New Orleans, and beyond, and has had several singles played on country radio, as well as other songs recorded in the country, pop, funk, and rock genres.

Recently Mark co-wrote three songs from New Orleans artist John "Papa" Gros's latest release, "Central City." He had co-written nine of the eleven songs on John “Papa” Gros’s 2016 releast, "River's On Fire."

In addition in late 2016 Mark’s song Island, recorded and released as a single by pop artist Svrcina, has over 2,000,000 plays on Spotify, and the lyric video has over 1,000,000 plays on youtube. His song “John Brown” has been performed on four continents and is part of the band’s Papa Grows Funk’s new documentary, “Do U want it?”  His song “Country as Cornbread” was the title track of Red Marlowe’s EP.  Red was runner up on “The Voice” in 2017.

Mark has had two music publishing deals in Nashville. He also has twelve years experience teaching songwriting at Tulane University, and has recently taught pop/rock ensembles on the adjunct music faculty at Loyola University in New Orleans. He still continues to write, perform, record and produce music of many genres with his band, Carson Station. He has co-produced solo album projects as well.
