Ana Cristina Cash is a Nashville-based American singer-songwriter who was originally raised in Miami, Florida by her Cuban parents who moved to the United States in the early 1960s during the onset of the revolution. Growing up listening to a multitude of genres, Cash’s sound was influenced by an eclectic array of inspiration from Country, Pop, improvisational Jazz and Latin music. Writing directly from the heart, the singer-songwriter’s recordings exhibit a broad vocal range, spanning from an expressive and resonating contralto to a soaring coloratura soprano, otherwise known as the “whistle register.” Ana earned her bachelor’s degree in journalism from Florida International University and her master’s degree in creative writing and literature from Harvard University.
Award-winning songwriter and producer Jodi Marr started cultivating her own genre-defying, cross-cultural career shortly after graduating from the University of Miami’s School of Music in the late 90’s. She jumped straight in, writing songs and fronting bands in the South Florida music scene, and was soon discovered by none other than Desmond Child, then (and still) one of the industry’s most legendary producers and songwriters. Child took Jodi under his wing, signed her band and helped her formulate a thriving producing and songwriting career of her own.
Child encouraged Jodi to utilize her gift of fluent Spanish, which became her secret weapon. It led her to break first as a songwriter on the Latin charts, winning a Latin Grammy for Alejandra Guzman’s #1 Single, ‘De Verdad’, from Guzman’s 2003 Latin Rock Album of the Year, Soy. From there, Jodi continued that hot streak, writing and producing hit songs for multiple Latin artists including Ricky Martin, Luis Fonsi, Alih Jey, RBD, OV7, Paulina Rubio, Thalia and Ednita Nazario among many others.
By 2006 Jodi was well into her own career as a sought-after songwriter and producer when she was introduced to a then-unknown 19-year-old London-based university student named MIKA. By then, her instincts and artist development skillset became the roadmap for MIKA’s signing a recording deal with Universal Music Group’s global chairman Lucian Grainge. Jodi co-wrote and associate produced the worldwide smash ‘Grace Kelly’ as well as multiple tracks on MIKA’s debut album Life in Cartoon Motion, which went on to sell over 7 million copies worldwide, achieving Gold or Platinum sales in over 32 markets.
Jodi’s successful collaboration with MIKA continued with her co-writing and associate producing his next multi-platinum selling album, The Origin of Love. That momentum led to her focusing on more artist development opportunities in London, including a meeting with another young, unknown artist named Paloma Faith. They collaborated on the global hit ‘New York’ along with multiple cuts for Paloma’s 2009 critically acclaimed debut album and setting the pace for Paloma’s trajectory as a global artist.
From there, Jodi continued to work in both the UK and US, achieving cuts with artists across multiple genres including icons Carole King and Dolly Parton as well as Kristin Chenoweth, Melanie C, Orianthi, Emily West, Liz Longley, Rita Wilson, Noah Schnacky, Juno Award-winning Johnny Reid and newcomer Bryce Drew. Jodi’s frequent songwriting collaborators include her mentor, Desmond Child as well as Greg Wells, Red One, Victoria Shaw, Rob Fusari, Richie Supa and Brett James among many others.
In addition to accumulating numerous Gold, Platinum and Grammy certifications, Jodi has served on the Board of Governors for the Latin Grammys and is a founding member of the Latin Songwriters Hall of Fame. She is currently Professor of Commercial Songwriting at Nashville’s prestigious Belmont University (currently rated first in the U.S. for Music Business studies). She channels that success, experience and expertise into her popular weekly newsletter, ‘From Songwriter to Star’ (S2S), where she shares a practical and inspiring weekly ‘how to’ guide for developing songwriters and offers a preview of her upcoming book of the same title (release date TBC).
